Don Bosco Technical Institute of Makati in collaboration with Tamang Kandidato Program of Bawat Isa Mahalaga Movement organized the “Tamang Ako Para sa Tamang Kandidato Facilitators’ Training Program”last March 10, 2022, 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm at Joy Center. There were sixty-two registered participants consisting of Salesians, lay mission partners, TVET students, and some representatives from the Salesian FIN provincial office. The primary objective of this program is to help the participants rediscover their identity, values and dreams as Christians and as Filipino citizens, and guide them through the process of discerning the candidates whose values and dreams for the nations are most aligned with their own.
The program started with the Opening Remarks which was led by Fr. Favie Faldas, SDB. Pastor Caloy Magsakay Diño, the director of Tamang Kandidato program conducted the 3-hour facilitators’ training. The participants were grouped into 3-5 members to share about these three questions: (1) Magbigay ng 2 salita na magdedescribe sa iyo.; (2) Ano ang pangarap mo para sa sarili, sa pamilya, sa bayan?; at (3) Paano nakakatulong o nakakahadlang ang Presidente sa pangarap natin? Pastor Caloy synthesized the sharings of the participants and he also emphasized their role as God’s stewards for the Philippines, and as the Sovereign Filipino People with the highest authority in the land.
Pastor Caloy shared about the relevance of democratic elections and how elected officials, such as the President help achieve the collective dreams of the Filipino people.
He enlightened the participants to choose the right candidate for President. In connection to this, he presented the May 2022 Presidential candidate’s stand and accomplishments: “Ang aking kandidato ba sa pagkapresidente ay Maka-Diyos, Maka-tao, Makabansa at Makakalikasan?” These compiled salient pieces of information helped the voter attendees to commit to voting for a President based on the best light and the highest values as Filipino citizens and as believers in God.
The program concluded with the giving of token of appreciation, closing remarks and prayer which was led by Fr. Juvelan Paul, Samia, SDB.
